Chess Club

Mondays at WME in the Gym from 8:00am-9:05am

Who should attend Chess Club and why?
Beginners through advanced players are welcome at Chess Club!
Make new friends while learning chess skills and practicing together each week. Chess has been proven to improve focus and critical thinking! In our classroom, chess is also a fun game where we build confidence, socialize, and practice sportsmanship.

What will students learn in Chess Club?
We will adjust each Chess Club to the students who attend to make sure all players learn! Beginners will learn chess fundamentals from castling to checkmate. We will learn tactics and checkmate patterns to build confidence finishing a game. We may even learn advanced tournament skills while learning from famous chess games!

Coding and Game Design

This semester in Lando's Coding class, students remix childhood classics like tag, hoops, hide-and-seek, and treasure hunts into retro arcade games they code themselves. Each class builds a complete game and teaches real computer science concepts along the way, including conditionals, variables, loops and cloning, randomness, and animation. Students work at their own pace through challenges that grow in difficulty, testing and debugging until each one runs. Every student leaves class with a game they made and a link to play it at home.

Spanish Immersion Classes – ParisAcademy Northwest

Tuesdays 3:50pm-4:50pm

Come join us for a bilingual, multicultural learning experience that opens both doors and minds to the world! PANW’s Spanish program offers an engaging, immersive experience designed for both new and returning students. Each session introduces brand-new concepts and weekly themes, ensuring the curriculum is never repetitive. A brief review is included to support returning learners while helping new students feel confident and included.

Lego Robotics and Monster Machines

Tuesdays | 3:45 – 5:15 pm |

Make a hippo yawn, a truck transform and a windmill spin!  This session’s engineers build machines in levels with LEGO, Technic and real motors- teachers keep every challenge just right so no one gets stuck or bored.  Every class ends with an email home and photos of exactly what your child built that day.

Youth Theatre Northwest - Ready, Set, Act!

Have you always wanted to be onstage, but don’t know how to start? In this enrichment

class, students will collaborate with others, act with their bodies and voices, tell stories,

take risks, and take to the stage together! We will stage stories, create characters, and

improvise together, creating a story that puts your student onstage, teaching them

foundational acting and theatre skills. Brought to you by Youth Theatre Northwest,

providing quality arts education to the King County area since 1984.

From Sea to Shining Sea- Fall 2026

Voyage with Smart with Art as we create sea inspired art in a variety of mediums. Explore seascapes, ocean life and more while learning about artists like Rembrandt, Van Gogh, O'Keeffe and more!
