Diwali Celebration Enlightens West Mercer Staff and Students About the Holiday

Staff and Students learn more about the Festival of Lights holiday through a catered Indian lunch and art activities

On Monday, November 13th West Mercer celebrates Diwali - a festival of lights holiday observed by Hindus, Sikhs, and Jains around the world.  It signifies joy and happiness, light over darkness, and good over evil.

June is Pride Month, so please join us for Mercer Island’s annual Pride in the Park Celebration on Saturday, June 17, 3pm-6pm at Mercerdale Park.  Mercer Island High School's Queer Straight Alliance, Islander Middle School’s QUILTBAG club and the Pride+ LGBTQIA Community group are excited to partner with the City of Mercer Island for this year’s Pride celebration.

Volunteer for IDEA Project at West Mercer April 17-21

West Mercer students will participate in the IDEA Project April 17-21 and we will need many volunteers.  Click HERE to see when your student’s class will visit the IDEA Project and then sign up here for a volunteer slot!

The PTA's SSALD (Special Services and Learning Differences) Committee is proud to bring the IDEA (Interactive Disability Education Awareness) Project to Mercer Island elementary schools.  The goal of the project is to create understanding and empathy by educating students about differences and different abilities.

BSU Mentorship Program Meeting

April 5, 3:15pm, West Mercer

The next BSU (Black Student Union) Mentorship Program meeting is on Wednesday, April 5, 3:15pm-4:15pm, at the West Mercer Elementary School multipurpose room (gym) and will be a fun gathering with ice cream and games.  This meeting will connect elementary school students (from West Mercer, Northwood, Lakeridge, and Island Park) with high school students (from Mercer Island High School) who identify as Black or African American.  RSVP for the meeting here.
