Hi, I’m Jamison Drayton, senior at Mercer Island High School and member of the Black Student Union (BSU).  BSU wants to reach out and connect with younger students of color in the district with a mentoring program at West Mercer Elementary.

• LGBTQ+ History Month - October is LGBTQ+ History Month, celebrating the achievements of 31 lesbian, gay, bisexual or transgender icons.
  
• Disability History and Awareness Month - Disability History and Awareness Month takes place during October to increase awareness, respect, and acceptance for people with disabilities, and to bring a greater sense of pride to people with disabilities.
• Indigenous Peoples’ Day- Monday, October 10 - Indigenous Peoples' Day celebrates the cultures and traditions of the Indigenous People, past and present.
